Nestled in the heart of San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District, Limón offers an authentic and passionate celebration of Peruvian and broader South American cuisine. This cozy yet lively restaurant invites diners to embark on a culinary journey filled with bold flavors, colorful plates, and expertly crafted cocktails.
The menu at Limón showcases an impressive array of Peruvian classics and inspired creations that both comfort and excite the palate. Standouts like Lomo Saltado, a perfectly seared beef stir-fry with onions and tomatoes, deliver a succulent mix of savory, tangy, and smoky notes that linger beautifully. The Ceviche Caliente and the signature Ceviche Limón offer a refreshing yet vibrant experience, where fresh seafood is marinated in citrus, providing a tantalizing balance of zesty acidity and subtle heat.
Seafood lovers will be drawn to the luxurious Arroz con Mariscos Paella, a fragrant seafood rice brimming with tender mussels, shrimp, and calamari, each bite layered with deep umami and a hint of smokiness. The Pollo a la Brasa, available in whole or half portions, is a must-try—its skin perfectly crisped and infused with smoky spices, served alongside your choice of juicy French fries or aromatic jasmine rice, accompanied by house-made ají sauces that range from creamy and mild to fiery hot. These satisfyingly hearty dishes perfectly capture the essence of Peruvian comfort food.
Vegetable options like the crisp and fresh Kale Salad provide a refreshing counterpoint, while indulgent choices such as the truffle-infused Mac & Cheese offer a luxurious twist on traditional comfort fare. For dessert, the silky Mango Panna Cotta delivers a tropical sweetness that rounds off the meal with elegance and charm.
Complementing the food is a well-curated drinks menu featuring Peruvian staples and local craft options. The classic Pisco Sour, tangy and frothy, alongside the house-made Sangria and a fine selection of IPAs like the Boo Koo IPA and East Brother Gold IPA, ensure refreshing and artfully balanced pairings for every dish.
Limón’s atmosphere mirrors its culinary philosophy—warm, inviting, and straightforward with an unpretentious charm. The space buzzes with cozy energy and friendliness, amplified by attentive service that swiftly delivers dishes while ensuring guests feel genuinely cared for. Amazing food!!! Dinner Saturday evening with a reservation for 4. We shared all the plates and loved every one of them. Great variety of seafood, chicken and red meat. Highly recommend the ceviche to start with, fresh and balanced flavor. Appetizer: CEVICHE LIMÓN Mains: Arroz Con Mariscos Paella. Half chicken and we got all the sauce options and fries as a side. The classic lomo saltado. Friendly staff. Good service, not too busy. We sat upstairs.
I’ve been coming here since 2022 and the food remains the same great quality and taste my fav is the Lomo Saltado ???????? The atmosphere is fun with warmth and cozyness. Service is great, food comes out fast and the servers are always making sure you’re enjoying your dinner. Kudos to them!
This place is solid. Unpretentious, slightly minimal, easeful, proud, delicious. Died happy at the bar with ceviche. Leche de tigre gave a nice limey burn. Mezcalita-like cocktail with a pleasant jolt of mango sweetness sealed the deal. Love.
Came with a large group from work. Ordered a large assortment of appetizers and entrees. All of them were really good! They came out quickly, had lots of flavour and good portion sizes. Cocktails were stronger than expected but tasted great! Would definitely go back again
I was expecting rotisserie chicken to have better taste. Ceviche was ok little be sour. Taro chips are dry not thin and crispy. Oysters are ok and doesn’t have sweetness taste. Mahi Mahi was over cooked so it’s not tender. Food quality needs to be improved although it’s well decorated to present. Good vibes here to hang out.
